Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

By Alexandra

With shaky fingers and anxious heart I click on the trailer. Let's hope for the best.

The trailer looks good. There is Princess Leia footage, as we were told, and some quite heartfelt moments, like when C-3PO undergoes "surgery".  Rey seems to be facing Palpatine alone, without Kylo Ren in sight. Perhaps she fought with him and won or he is coming to her aid later. One cannot believe that Kylo Ren will end up a complete baddie, as redemption is a favourite film in the saga. He might get his wish granted and follow in the steps of his grandfather, Darth Vader. Maybe he will turn his back to the Dark Side, and thus "rise". Oh, and I think we will find out who Rey really is.

Antlers

By Christiana

Scott Cooper`s upcoming horror film unveils a series of disturbing images as its second trailer premiers. A young boy, played by Jeremy T. Thomas, is harbouring a mysterious creature in his basement, silently waiting for it to unleash hell over their hometown.

The local police sheriff (Jesse Plemons- Black Mirror) and his sister, played by The Americans` Keri Russell, get caught up in this graphic story that`s going to leave you breathless.

Having one of the best trailers of this past week- Antlers hits theaters in April.

Let It Snow

By Christiana

Here comes a new Christmas themed romantic comedy for teens, based on the eponymous book by John Green. With an interesting cast consisting of Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Joan Cusack (Shameless), Isabela Moner (Dora and the Lost City of Gold), Odeya Rush (Lady Bird), Jacob Batalon (Spider-Man: Homecoming), Shameik Moore (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse) and Mitchell Hope (Descendants), "Let It Snow" will probably be a great festive film for younger audiences.

To me, it seems rather unnecessary for Netflix to have had produced another cliche rom-com for teenagers, but I guess the more commercially successful it becomes, the better...

Coming to the platform on November 8th.

Bloodshot

By Alexandra

The feature directorial debut of David S. F. Wilson, "Bloodshot" is based on a comic character from Valiant Comics. Ray Garrison (Vin Diesel) is brought back to life, technologically enhanced, and manipulated to kill whoever is implanted in his memories as his and his wife's (Eiza González) killer.

Written by Jeff Wadlow ("Never back down", "Kick-Ass 2)) and Eric Heisserer ("Arrival", "A Nightmare on Elm Street), "Bloodshot" looks like there is more to it than just a fight film. Maybe it's a bit of a stretch, but the film could play on the notion of soldiers being trained and steered in a certain direction.

The Crown: Season 3

By Alexandra

The season 3 trailer shows a summary of what is in store for The Crown: the Queen  pondering over her 25-year reign and her legacy so far, a Princess Margaret that is struggling with her marriage and still harbours a rivalry with her sister, a country in crisis and a glimpse of Princess Diana.

It is delightful to see Olivia Colman and Helena Bonham-Carter get in the shoes of Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret.
